CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU) —  The Champaign Fire Department is getting some new toys after Horizon Hobby donated two drones.

The drones will be used to provide vital information during extreme emergencies such as hazmat responses, natural disasters, and situations that have toxic fumes.

“These drones have kind of been on our radar for a little while, but just under the last couple years some advancements in technology and stuff have made them a little more useful,” Champaign Fire Department Battalion Chief Tyler Funk said.

The Champaign Fire Department will have eight firefighters complete drone training at parkland college. [Click for More]
