Drone Versus Airplane In Search: Flight Debrief And Thoughts

This is What Exceptional Aviation Communication Sounds Like

There was a recent aircraft accident in Houston.

The recording of the radio communications between the three helicopters and tower is a great example of the value of the type of radio communications and coordination that should occur between drone pilots and aircraft above incident scenes.

In my experience dealing with new helicopters, they are very professional and will relocate to a position out of the way but able to get the shots they need. You hear the News 3 pilot do just that with the DPS helicopter.

I believe the News 3 pilot is talking about aviation frequency 123.025 when he mentions talking to other helicopters on 02.

One day we will get all drone pilots trained on radio communications and develop a great process to coordinate airspace as you can hear in the video.
